The Financial Controller - Manufacturing will work for a very well established manufacturing company and be the key Finance Leader for the entire business unit. The position is on-site 5 days a week near Putnam CT - reporting daily to the Head of Operations and into the Financial Executive team based of Global HQ. Job Description

  • General Accounting & Financial Reporting - Journalize accounting entries, maintain general ledgers, and prepare monthly closes and financial statements.
  • Reconciliations & Fixed Assets - Perform reconciliations for cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inter-company accounts, and inventory including valuation and reserves.
  • Accounts Payable & Treasury Operations - Supervise accounts payable, coordinate with bank treasury systems, and manage cash operations including payment systems and positive pay controls.
  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Financial Analysis - Conduct monthly budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis between actuals and budget, including gross margin and standard cost reviews.
  • Inventory & Cost Control - Oversee inventory control processes, physical inventory coordination, standard costing, labor/overhead rate calculations, and manufacturing cost monitoring.
  • Capital & Operational Efficiency - Lead capital expenditure ROI modeling, identify cost-saving opportunities, and drive efficiency improvements across operations.
  • Tax & Audit Compliance - Handle sales and local tax filings, coordinate audit documentation and responses.
  • KPI Monitoring & Reporting - Prepare and communicate daily KPIs, ensuring transparency and performance tracking across factory operations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Collaborate with production, procurement, planning, and administration to align financial and operational goals.
  • Leadership & Staff Development - Coach, train, and evaluate staff performance to ensure high standards and continuous improvement in the finance function.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Related Degree
  • 10 - 15 + years of Financial Management/Leadership Tenure in the Manufacturing Sector Strongly preferred
  • Cost Accounting, General Accounting, FP&A knowledge essential
  • ERP System Usage
  • Strong communication skills
