Scenario

Based on a successful client relationship with the incumbent who was retiring, a Michael Page Finance consultant recommended Page Executive to find his replacement due to our focus on senior executive and board-level retained search, across all disciplines in the TMT sectors. The Director of Financial Operations is a very influential role and required someone capable of making an immediate impact whilst continuing the development, management and reporting of this function and providing the vision to drive and support the next growth phase of Samsung in the UK. The candidate would need to be ACA qualified and Big 4 trained, with a strong track record in operations at senior management level and a track record of operating in a multicultural business.


Solution

Our approach was to actively search the market to identify suitably qualified finance directors. Our research team was briefed and we drew up a list of target organisations approved by the client. We contacted, briefed and interviewed finance directors from the target organisations to create a shortlist of candidates within a four week time frame. After a series of interviews, shortlisted candidates were invited to meet the incumbent and recruitment manager before proceeding to final interviews with the CFO. Throughout the interview process we provided feedback to both the candidates and client to ensure expectations were managed at each stage.


Outcome

An excellent candidate was found and was, in fact, the first candidate we presented, with a confidential CV at the first meeting. His qualifications, experience and temperament proved to be a good match for the outgoing incumbent and the Samsung management team.
